Records are minutes, agenda, and meeting supporting documentation, September 1979-January 2002, of the Texas General Services Commission and its predecessor, the Texas State Purchasing and General Services Commission. The mission of the agency was to acquire and provide goods, services, and facilities for state agencies and other government entities. Also included are a few minutes for the Open Records Steering Committee, 1995; Tex-An User Group, 1991-1993; Texas Capitol Rideshare Program, 1995; and the Robert E. Johnson Building tenants, 1999.

The Texas State Board of Control was abolished in 1979 (House Bill 1673, 66th Legislature, Regular Session); its duties and responsibilities were transferred to the newly created Texas State Purchasing and General Services Commission.
